My whole mud mixing method was backwards for two years
I was showing my buddy from the Tacoma job how I always add water to the powder, and he just stared at me like I grew a second head. He said, 'Man, you're making it fight you... powder into the water, it hydrates smooth.' Tried it on the next batch and my forearms stopped hating me. Anyone else learn a basic thing embarrassingly late?

Yeah, "powder into the water" is the only way. It's like making gravy without lumps. I did the water-into-powder thing for a whole summer, fighting a lumpy mess and wasting material. Once you flip it, you get a perfect consistency every single time and you're not standing there stirring forever.

Wait, you did it wrong for a WHOLE SUMMER? That is some serious dedication to doing it the hard way, my friend. I would have given up after like two tries and just googled it.

My first concrete countertop looked like a science experiment gone wrong.
