Noticed a weird hump in a ceiling at a Home Depot in Austin last week

I was grabbing some 5/8 sheetrock at the Home Depot on Slaughter Lane and saw the ceiling in the storage aisle had this long, smooth hump running along a seam. It looked like someone tried to tape and mud over a big dip without sanding it flat first. Has anyone else seen stuff like that in big box stores and wondered if it was just rushed work or something else?

Bet it's just vapor barrier sagging, drywall work is fine.

Yeah, I had a spot in my garage where the vapor barrier was sagging exactly like that. Drywall looked perfect from the front but you could feel it bowing when you tapped it. I cut a small access hole behind where the sag was, pushed the vapor barrier back up against the studs, and stapled it tight. Patched the hole with a scrap piece of drywall and some mud, sanded it smooth, and you literally couldn't tell after I painted. Took me maybe an hour tops and saved me from having to rip out the whole sheet.
