PSA: Wednesday I hung 64 sheets of 5/8 in a garage solo and the trick was a $14 laser level
So I took a one man job in a detached garage in Plano last Wednesday, 12 foot walls, and I figured I would be there till dark fighting the lid. I clipped a cheap Bosch laser to a scrap 2x4 on the floor, set it about an eighth above my line, and used it to keep every sheet on the same plane as I worked my way around. Normally a garage like that eats me alive, but I had the field up and the butt joints tight in about 6 hours, which is quick for me. I still taped it Thursday, and the finisher said he barely touched the seams. Has anyone else tried running a floor laser as a guide instead of snapping lines everywhere?
The "eighth above my line" trick is smart. I did something like that for a fence once, ran a string line off two stakes and just eyeballed to it. Way faster than marking every post.
