Rigid foam backing cracked behind my last big tape job
Hit a job in Cleveland two weeks ago where the customer wanted seamless corners over these old insulated walls. I taped and mudded like normal, then three days later a hairline split showed up right along the seam line. Turns out the rigid foam behind the board was flexing with temp changes, and no amount of mesh or hot mud was gonna hold that. I had to cut out a 4-foot section, shim it with plywood strips, and re-tape the whole thing from scratch. That added a full day and $180 in materials to a job I already quoted too tight. Has anyone else run into backing that moves this bad, or did I just get lucky with a weird house?
