Shoutout to the guy who swore by mesh tape for corners

I've always used paper tape on inside corners because that's how my old foreman taught me, but a buddy kept pushing mesh for a big job up in Spokane last month. After fighting with paper tape bubbling on a humid day, I tried his method on a 14-foot corner and it laid flat with zero issues. Has anyone else switched from paper to mesh on corners, or am I just late to the party?

Grabbed a roll of mesh on a whim after fighting a paper tape bubble on a 10 foot vaulted corner in a client's house last spring. Laid it in with a skim coat of mud and it stuck dead flat with zero wrinkles, even with a humid afternoon rolling in. Paper always felt like it was fighting me on those long runs but mesh just sits there and behaves. Only catch is you gotta wipe your knife clean often or the mesh can grab and lift.

...and that's exactly what sold me on mesh for corners too. I had the same issue with paper tape bubbling on a humid remodel job here in Portland. Switched to mesh on a long vaulted corner and it stuck flat as a pancake, no wrinkles at all. Only thing I'll say is you gotta make sure you bed it in thin enough mud or it can get a little too thick. But for tall or tricky corners, mesh is my go-to now.
