Shoutout to the taper in Tulsa who showed me the trick of pre-filling gaps before taping
I was helping on a 12 unit apartment job off Route 66 and this old taper named Ray watched me tape a butt joint cold, stopped me, and said fill the gap first or you are just hiding the crack for the painter to find, which cut my callbacks to almost zero.
