That time the mud refused to dry in a damp garage

I was hanging board in a garage with poor ventilation. The joint compound stayed tacky for what felt like days. What's your best move when drying takes too long?

Stopping coats helps, but a dehumidifier works better I heard.

Dehumidifiers take a full day, but a fan dries mud in just hours.

Actually, a dehumidifier works faster than that.

Ugh, been there. First, stop adding new coats, that just traps moisture. Get a cheap space heater and a fan running in there, even a basic box fan helps move air. If you can, crack the garage door open an inch for a cross breeze, just be safe about it. Sometimes you just have to wait it out, trying to sand tacky mud is a nightmare.
