Unpopular opinion: that new lightweight mud is a total waste of money

Honestly, I thought the Easy Sand 45 stuff was just a gimmick until I had to patch a whole ceiling in a Phoenix summer. Tried it once and it sets up way too fast for any real finishing work, you get maybe 10 minutes before it's rock hard. Has anyone found a lightweight mix that actually works for more than a quick fill?

It's like @stella111 said, the default settings are never right. You see this everywhere, from mud to software to my own coffee maker.

Switched to the 90 minute stuff and it saved my sanity on that same job.

Only took a minor mental breakdown to find the right setting, huh? The factory default should just be labeled "fast track to burnout mode." Glad you found the secret cheat code before you started talking to the office plants. What was the final straw that made you switch?
