Vent: That $200 moisture meter I bought burned me on a job

I dropped 200 bucks on a fancy pinless moisture meter last month thinking it would save me time checking green boards before hanging. First big job using it, I trusted the readings and hung 50 sheets in a basement remodel. Three days later the GC called me back because half the sheets were wicking moisture from the slab. Old screwdriver test would've caught it. Anyone else have a tool that let you down when you needed it most?

My neighbor's laser level gave readings two inches off on a kitchen reno last spring.

$200 for a moisture meter and it couldn't even tell you the slab was sweating like a marathon runner. Must have been a real treat explaining to that GC why you were re-hanging half his basement. Guess the old screwdriver test is still the gold standard for a reason though, right?
