Warning: The new lightweight drywall is trending, but I worry it dents too easy compared to regular board.

Contractors in my area are switching to lightweight for easier handling, yet I've seen more callbacks for repairs, so what's your experience?

Boston contractors add plywood behind lightweight in high-traffic areas.

Man that's a solid move by those Boston crews. @williams.drew your buddy's golf ball wall is exactly why they do it. Lightweight is fine for most spots but gets wrecked in halls or behind doors. Adding that plywood backing is cheap insurance, like maybe an extra hundred bucks on the job. It stops the dents before they happen and saves a ton of headache later. Totally worth asking your contractor about it up front.

Yeah I was all for it at first, lighter is easier, right? But my buddy's place got a few good whacks from furniture and now his wall looks like a golf ball.
