Finally got my journeyman license after failing the first try

I had to choose between retaking the test right away or waiting six months to study more. Went with the extra study, used Mike Holt's exam prep book, and passed last Friday. Anyone else have a better way to prep for the code questions?

Mike Holt's book saved my butt too, that six month wait must have been brutal. I remember staring at the code book until the numbers blurred together. The way they word those test questions is designed to trip you up. Taking that extra time to really get it was the smart move, even if it felt awful waiting. Congrats on pushing through and getting it done.

Yeah, the wording is everything. I had a question about feeder loads that kept using "shall be permitted" instead of "shall be" and it totally changed the right answer. You have to read each word like it's a trap. That's why just knowing the code number isn't enough, you have to get why the rule is written that specific way. It's brutal but it makes you a better electrician in the long run.

Staring at the code book until the numbers blurred together" is such a real feeling, I can't believe you powered through that. That blurry-eyed stage is when I usually just give up for the day. Huge respect for sticking with it.
