Found a sneaky way to fish wire through a finished ceiling without cutting giant holes

I had to run a new line to a ceiling fan in a house with spray foam insulation, and the usual flex bits were getting bound up after 3 feet. Tried using a glow rod with a small magnet taped to the end to guide it through the joist bay from an outlet cutout, and it actually snaked through in under 10 minutes. Anyone else ever used magnets in a weird way to get around insulation?

Spent way too long trying to magnetize my credit card before realizing it was the wrong kind of magnet.
