Hit 25 years in the trade this month and it snuck up on me
I was looking through my old tool bag the other day (the one from my first job) and realized I've been doing this since 1999. That's 25 years of pulling wire, bending pipe, and fixing other people's screwups. It hit me when I found a stub of Romex from a house I wired back in 2001 in Boulder. The whole trade has changed so much since then. Anyone else get caught off guard by how long they've been at this?

See, I gotta push back on that a little. I hit 30 years last spring and honestly, it didn't sneak up on me at all. Every ache in my knees and every time I have to watch a 20-year-old on YouTube explain a new code update, it's a reminder. The job's changed sure, but not always for the better. I miss when a service call meant fixing a switch and not replacing a whole smart panel.

Crack a joke about it, but my back just laughed at me for old times sake.
