I was totally against using WAGO connectors until a job in Minneapolis changed my mind
I used to swear by wire nuts for everything. But last month I was wiring up a panel in a basement with barely any room to work, and the old timer I was with pulled out a box of WAGO 221s. He showed me how they handle stranded wire and the lever locks tightened up solid. Now I keep a few packs in my bag for tight spots, has anyone else made the switch and regretted it later?

Better late than never, I guess, as long as you don't electrocute yourself figuring it out.

Wait, so you're telling me wire nuts aren't the only option for connecting wires? I've been using those little twisty things for like fifteen years, and I've got the scarred knuckles to prove it. I always just assumed that was the price you paid for doing electrical work in a tight box. Now I feel like I've been living in the dark ages, you know, like when I finally switched from a manual can opener to an electric one and realized how much time I'd wasted.

You ever notice how we all get stuck in our ways about the little stuff... then something practical just flips a switch? That's been happening to me more and more lately, not just with tools but with all kinds of everyday habits. I was the same way with wire nuts for years, thought they were the only way to go. But once you see how much cleaner a lever lock makes a cramped box, it's hard to go back. It's like when you finally try a different way of tying off a rope or loading a truck bed, and you just wonder why you didn't give it a shot sooner. Regret? Only that I didn't try them years ago and saved myself some knuckle busting in tight spots. That old timer you were with probably had a whole box full of tricks just like that.
