Master electrician in Portland told me to stop zipping ties so tight

Back in 2018 he watched me dress a panel and said if you can't slide a finger under the bundle, you're crushing the insulation and it'll crack in 10 years. Ever since, I leave a little slack on every vertical run and it's saved me three callbacks so far, has anyone else had an old timer correct their bundling habit?

Tight bundles keep things clean, loose wires look like a rat's nest.

Whoa, actually tight bundles can cause heat buildup if the wires are carrying heavy load. Better to leave a little slack so air can move around them.
