Shoutout to the guy who told me to torque my main lugs
I thought it was overkill for years until a panel I wired in a 1980s split-level started tripping for no clear reason. Found a hot spot on the main feed because the lugs were just hand tight. Anyone else have a simple step they used to skip that bit them later?

My old boss used to skip the wire brush.

Sometimes you gotta save a few seconds, right?

Guess I'm the reason they put those warnings on everything.

Oh honey, been there. Those warning labels exist because someone out there tried to dry their cat in the microwave or something equally creative. We all have those moments where we make a choice and realize later we were the reason the manual got an extra page.
