The $89 laser level I swore I'd never buy now lives in my truck

I spent 12 years on commercial jobs in Charlotte using string lines and a bubble level. Thought laser levels were for guys who couldn't pull a straight measurement. Last month I had to set 40 recessed cans in a drop ceiling alone, no helper. Borrowed a buddy's rotating laser and had all the boxes marked in 90 minutes instead of 4 hours. The next day I bought my own, still hate the price, but the time I save on resi remodels pays for it pretty quick. Anyone else hold out on a tool for years then wonder why they bothered suffering that long?

My dad did the same thing with a decent table saw. He fought with a circular saw and homemade guides for 15 years because he said table saws were for people who couldnt measure twice. Then my uncle let him borrow his for a weekend kitchen remodel and he came home looking like a man who just saw fire for the first time. Its funny how we treat some tools like admitting weakness when really its just admitting we had a stubborn streak. Same thing happened to me with a cordless impact driver, I stripped so many screws with a drill before I gave in. Its like the tool was there the whole time waiting for us to stop being so hardheaded.
