Vent: Bought a cheap knockoff voltage tester for $15 and it cost me a full day's pay on a re-inspect.

Heard a guy on a podcast say the cheap tool is always the most expensive one you'll buy.

Is it really that serious though? Like yeah you don't wanna buy total junk but there's a middle ground. My dad still uses a $20 multimeter from 2005 and it works fine. Not everyone needs Snap On or Fluke gear for basic stuff around the house. I think the real problem is people buying the absolute cheapest thing they can find off Amazon. That's different than just buying a reasonably priced tool from a decent brand. But I get it if you're making money with the tool then yeah don't cheap out.
