Warning: Chase nipples on a 4 sq box can hide for an hour

I was roughing in a kitchen remodel in Austin last week and spent damn near 90 minutes trying to find a buried chase nipple in a 4 square box. Turns out a drywall screw was holding the wire tight against the back corner where the knockouts were. Has anyone else lost time to a simple box hunt on a trim out?

Wait, logan271 actually knocks out the back knockouts on 4 squares during rough in just to see the chase nipple later? That's wild, but I guess if it saves you an hour of digging around it's worth it. @the_felix would probably say that's too much planning for trim out.

I've done a few kitchen remodels in the suburbs here near Denver and that Austin humidity probably made the drywall screws grab even tighter. One tip I picked up from an old timer is to always knock out the back knockouts on a 4 square box during rough in so you can see the chase nipple from above. It's not really a "buried" chase nipple if you leave it hidden, a box hunt on trim out is just bad planning that costs you a trip back to the van for a flashlight and a mirror.

Box hunt on trim out" sounds like a real party. Nothing beats crawling around with a mirror like you're trying to spot a gremlin under the sink.
