Guy at the Dallas repair meetup last week said he skips the thermal paste swap on phones under $100 and it's biting him now
He said he's had 4 customers come back in 3 weeks with phones that run hot and shut off mid call, and he's eating the labor to redo them twice, so I want to know if anyone else has tested whether a cheap paste job below a certain price point actually saves money or just costs you repeat trips.

Been there with the cheap paste route and yeah, it comes back to bite every time. Did a batch of older Androids with the $3 tube stuff and half of them were back within a month running hot, so now I just eat the cost of the good stuff up front. Cheaper than doing the same phone twice, no question.
