My buddy swore by using a heat gun for every single stuck connector, and I finally had to admit he was wrong

For years, this guy I know from a repair meetup in Austin would say 'just hit it with the heat gun, it'll pop right off' for any stubborn ribbon cable or power jack. I tried it his way on a Nintendo Switch last week, trying to get the battery connector loose. Ended up warping the plastic housing and had to order a whole new back plate. Cost me $22 and an extra hour. What's your go-to method for those really stuck plastic clips that won't budge with a spudger?
