Rant: I thought those $12 AliExpress hot air station nozzles were trash, then one saved a repair
A guy on the repair Discord kept saying to buy the cheap 5-pack of 8508 nozzles from AliExpress instead of the $40 name brand ones, and I figured they would melt or fit loose. Last Tuesday a customer brought in a water damaged MacBook board with a tiny power rail chip near the hinge, and my only matching Hakko tip was too fat to reach it without nuking the plastic. I grabbed one of the cheap 2.5mm bent nozzles from the bottom of my drawer, and it fit the 858D wand perfect and the chip came off clean at 380C in about 30 seconds. Now I'm wondering how many other cheap tools I wrote off too fast, anyone got a cheap pick or flux that actually holds up?
