Tried flushing a corroded gamepad board with vinegar and it ate the traces
I had a crusty old Xbox controller with stick drift so bad it was unusable, and against my better judgment I soaked the board in white vinegar for about 20 minutes to break up the battery corrosion. Came back to find the copper traces near the battery contacts had gone green and pitted, way worse than when I started. I learned the hard way that vinegar keeps eating metal long after you pull it out, and a cotton swab with isopropyl is the only thing that touches a board in my shop now. The controller was a total loss at 20 bucks in parts, and the customer was cool about it but I still felt dumb. What do you guys use to knock out heavy corrosion without wrecking the traces?
