Bought a $400 thermal camera for tracing door operator circuits.

Found a bad relay in five minutes on a job that would've taken half a day with a meter. Anyone got a better brand they swear by for this kind of work?

Tracing door operator circuits" is a perfect use for those things.

Oh come on, @skyler217, that sounds like a total headache. Those circuits are a mess of safety interlocks and weird voltages. You'd spend more time figuring out what wire does what than actually fixing the problem. A simple multimeter and the wiring diagram is way faster and less frustrating. Using a fancy tracer on that is just making a simple job complicated for no good reason.

But like, how bad can it really be? People use tracers on way more complex stuff all the time.
