Built a desk lamp from an old elevator pulley

Found a retired pulley on a job last week. Cleaned it up, attached a LED kit. Now it lights my workbench at home. Any of you make stuff from spare parts?

Honestly, how did you attach the LED kit to the pulley itself? Was it hard to wire through the old metal?

Actually getting the wires through was the real pain.

For my old gear lamp, a two-part epoxy putty held the socket rock solid. Ran the cord through the center hole with a simple rubber grommet to keep it from rubbing. That grease stain warning is real though, a clear matte spray coat stopped all that.
