Foreman in Dallas said to skip the door operator lube on the old Dover units, cost me a callback
Six months back a foreman on a job in Dallas told me the old Dover door operators run dry and adding grease just gums them up, so I stopped lubing them on my route. Fast forward to a Tuesday night and I get a callback on a 1978 unit, doors slamming shut on a lady on the 11th floor. Turns out the rollers were flat spotted and the track was dry as a bone, exactly the stuff the grease would have caught. He swore by it for 20 years, but I think he just got lucky with light traffic buildings. Anybody else had a lead hand give them advice that only works until it doesn't?
