Got stuck in a car at 2am in Dallas and it changed how I check door locks
About 6 months ago I got a call to a parking garage in Dallas where a guy was stuck between floors in a freight car. Turned out the door lock roller had worn down and the gate switch was barely making contact, so the car kept stopping halfway and he panicked and pried at the doors. I spent 40 minutes talking him calm through the intercom before I could get the car leveled and let him out. Now on every annual I roll the gate switch by hand and check the lock roller gap instead of just watching it work once. What's your go to check for those old freight door locks that always seem to slip past the PM?
