That awful sound coming from the library elevator is driving me nuts

It's been squealing every time it stops at a floor. I work nearby and hear it all day long. Is this a common issue with older systems?

Those grinding noises wear down your sanity after a while.

What's the worst part of your day for that noise? Is it when you're trying to focus or just trying to relax?

Used to tune it out, but now that screech would ruin my whole day.
