Four months ago I had a guy in the warehouse try to show me the same trick and it was worse than the way I already did it. Maybe it's just me but some of those old school methods are just outdated.

Nod and let them finish, then try it their way once just to be polite. If it sucks, just say "huh, my way works better for my setup" and move on. Half the time they just want to feel useful, not actually change how you work.

Did you at least get a laugh out of how bad it was? Because honestly, sometimes these old timers swear by their little shortcuts and you just have to smile and nod while they show you a method that takes twice as long. I've been there a few times, watching someone proudly explain a "better way" that honestly just makes everything harder. It's not you, those guys just don't like seeing someone younger doing the job fine without their help.
