That one passenger who made me double check my door sensors
Back in March I was doing a routine PM at a 12 story building in Minneapolis, and this older lady walks up while I'm testing the re-leveling with a full load. She points at the gap between the car and the hoistway and says, 'my shoe got stuck there last Tuesday, are you sure that's safe?' I ran the numbers after she left, the gap was within code but only by like a quarter inch. It hit me that we get so used to tolerance charts, but a passenger's real experience is way different from a spec sheet. Has anyone else had a tenant or rider point out something that made you verify something you assumed was fine? What did you find?
