Went to a hotel in Nashville and found a 1960s Otis still running strong
Stayed at this old place off Broadway last weekend for a buddy's bachelor thing. The elevator was this ancient Otis, probably original from when the building went up in 63. No digital readout, just a creaky handle and a door that slammed like a bank vault. Rode it 8 times just because it was cooler than anything else there. The bellhop said it's only had two major repairs in 60 years, one was a relay swap in 92 and the other was a motor brush change in 2011. Had me thinking, how many of these old units are still out there in smaller buildings? Anyone else run into a dinosaur that just won't die? I swear some of the new MRLs I've seen in condos can barely go 5 years without a controller issue.
