Can we talk about how a 30 day net term somehow turned into a 4 month wait because of a "new accounting system"?
Finished a batch of product photos for a small shop out in Boise back in March. Invoice was due April 15. It's now July 3 and I just got paid. The whole thing came down to them switching to some new accounting software and nobody there knew how to add an outside vendor to the system. Took 3 different people and about 14 emails before someone finally figured out how to cut a check. My advice: ask who their AP person is before you even start the work, because if they can't name one, that's your warning. Has anyone else gotten the "we just switched systems" line and actually gotten paid faster after?
That "ask who their AP person is" tip is solid gold and I wish I'd known it years ago. Had a client once who took almost five months because their bookkeeper retired and the new person was only part time, so checks went out maybe once a month if you were lucky. The worst part was nobody told me, so I just kept sending polite emails into the void like a fool. Learned the hard way to get a name and a direct line before I lift a finger. Your Boise story beats mine though, 14 emails is a lot of patience.
