Client offered me a used treadmill or half the invoice, and I picked the treadmill
A guy in Cleveland owed me $1,400 for a website rebuild and went quiet for six weeks, then emailed saying money was tight and I could either take $700 or his barely used treadmill. I picked the treadmill out of pure spite, mostly because I wanted to see if he would really drop it off. He did, in a truck, with his kid helping him carry it up my stairs, and it turned out to be a decent $900 model that I sold for $600 on a Saturday. So I got $1,300 total and a story, but I still don't know if I won or lost there. What's the weirdest non-cash thing a client has tried to pay you with?
