Saw a guy at the Phoenix home show collecting $500 deposits on the spot for kitchen remodels
I was walking the aisles at the home show in Phoenix last weekend and this one booth had a line of about 6 people handing over cash deposits for kitchen work. The guy was writing receipts on a carbon pad and saying the slots were limited, which made everyone push harder to pay right then. What got me was he had zero brochures and no portfolio, just a banner and a tablet with a slideshow. My gut says anyone who needs cash today for a job starting in 3 months is trouble. Curious if other folks have run into the pay-now-to-hold-your-spot pitch at these shows.
