Serious question, is a paper contract better than a handshake deal? Found out the hard way
Took a $2,200 logo job back in March from a guy who swore we didn't need paperwork since his cousin vouched for him. Sent the files after two weeks, then heard crickets for 40 days while I sent five follow up emails. Finally called his cousin, who had no idea the guy even moved to Phoenix and changed his number. A one page contract with a deposit would have saved me all that. Anyone got a simple template they swear by for small gigs?

Oof, that cousin must've felt great getting dragged into it. I once did a "trust me bro" deal with a guy who paid me in promises, so youre not alone in learning this the dumb way. Just write up a one pager with a 50% deposit clause and you're set.
