The client who "accidentally" paid me twice, then asked for a refund 4 months later
I wrapped up a branding package for a small bakery in Austin, Texas back in June. They paid the invoice, I moved on. Then in October, they said they found a duplicate charge on their card and wanted the second payment back. I checked my records, only saw one deposit. It took me three weeks of back and forth with PayPal, the client, and their bank to prove I never got anything extra. They finally admitted they were looking at the wrong account. The whole mess cost me more time than the original project took, and they never even apologized. Has anyone else had a client demand money back for a payment that never actually happened?

“Looking at the wrong account” reminds me of my buddy who spent a month chasing a refund for a payment his client swore they made, turns out the client was trying to pay their own kid’s tutor the whole time. People really just be out here wildin with their bank statements.
