Tried chasing clients by email versus text message and the difference was night and day
After a client ghosted me for 6 weeks on a $700 pet portrait commission, I sent a quick text instead of another polite email follow-up and got paid within 2 hours, has anyone else had better luck with texting over email for overdue invoices?

Did @shanes66 hit on why a text got through faster than six emails? Think its just the urgency of the ding vs the inbox pileup, or is there something about texting that makes people feel like they have to answer right now? Curious if the quick response also meant they paid faster without arguing the invoice.

Yeah, I read somewhere that texts have like a 90% open rate within 3 minutes while emails sit for hours or days. That tracks with what @shanes66 was saying about the shoulder tap thing. I also saw a small business survey showing people settle invoices 4x faster via text because it feels less formal and more like a conversation with a friend. Your mileage may vary, but that pet portrait client probably just needed that nudge in a channel they actually check.

Texting feels way more personal and urgent (like a direct tap on the shoulder) versus an email that just sits in their inbox forever. The barrier to reply is so much lower when they can just thumb out a quick response while standing in line for coffee. Maybe emails feel too formal for money talk, but a text cuts through all that noise and gets straight to the point.
