Update: The 50% deposit for new gigs finally worked on a flake

After 8 months of getting ghosted on final invoices, I started asking for half up front on every project over $500. Last week a guy who used to vanish for weeks paid the second half without me even sending a reminder. He said the deposit made him treat it like a real commitment. Has anyone else tried this and seen repeat offenders actually pay on time?
