A client in Phoenix told me my extractions were too fast
She said, 'You're going so quick I'm scared you'll miss something,' which made me realize I was rushing the pore cleansing step to stay on schedule. Now I add five full minutes to every facial just for that part, and I explain each step as I go. Has anyone else had to slow down a specific part of their routine after getting feedback?

Slowing down is smart, but calling extractions "gross" to a client might make them self-conscious. I say things like "letting the skin release" instead. It keeps the mood professional while still being clear about what's happening.

Remember that time a client asked what the gritty feeling was during a facial scrub? I said it was just the polish doing its thing, but my brain went straight to "dead skin buffet." Some thoughts just need to stay in your head, you know? It's a real skill to find those nice, clear phrases that don't make someone feel weird about totally normal skin stuff. Shane's "letting the skin release" is a good one, it sounds way more peaceful.

Oh man, rushing extractions is my bad habit too. I have to remind myself that slow and gross wins the race.
