Am I the only one who has to explain that 'steaming' your face doesn't mean holding it over a boiling pot of pasta water?
Honestly, after a new client told me she does that twice a week 'to open her pores,' I knew I had to make a whole Instagram story about proper facial steamers versus kitchen hazards.

Twice a week is honestly pretty standard if you want to keep pores clear without overdoing it. Some people go overboard with those at-home steamer machines and end up red-faced for hours. It's really about timing and not hovering too close.

Wait, she was using actual pasta water? I had a friend who did the same thing with a kettle until she gave herself a light burn. What finally got through to her was showing her one of those little bowl-style steamers you can get for like twenty bucks, the kind with a soft hood that traps the steam. Way safer and you can add herbs if you want.

My cousin's roommate once tried steaming her face over a pot of ramen and nearly tipped the whole thing over.
