Hot take: I ditched disposable gloves for reusable ones and it's been a weird adjustment
Honestly, after 8 years in this field I felt like I was throwing away a small forest every week. So I switched to those heavy nitrile reusable gloves about 3 months ago, the ones you sanitize between clients. Ngl, it's been a learning curve because they smell if you don't dry them right and I've definitely snapped a pair on a zipper. But I'm saving about $40 a month and I feel less wasteful. Has anyone else made this swap or am I just being cheap?

My husband switched to reusable gloves at his auto shop and I made the mistake of grabbing them to clean the bathroom once. Let me tell you, there is a definite difference between "gear oil" smell and "bleach clean" smell and they don't mix well. He's been using the same three pairs for about six months now and claims they last longer if you let them air out overnight. The real trick is having a dedicated pair for cleaning and another pair for work, because you do not want those smells crossing over.

Wait @adam414, have you actually tried the baking soda trick yourself or just heard about it?

Has anyone tried putting a dedicated pair in a sealed bag with baking soda overnight to kill the oil smell? @kellyallen I bet if you had a set just for the bathroom that stayed separate from the auto ones, you wouldn't get that nasty mix. I've seen guys at the track use different colored gloves to tell them apart, like red for shop, blue for house stuff. It's crazy how that gear oil smell just clings to everything, even after a wash with dish soap.
