I was sure that gua sha was just a fancy gimmick, but my regular client's skin told a different story
For a long time, I thought gua sha was just a passing trend with no real results (you know, like those weird beauty tools that pop up online). I avoided adding it to my facial services for almost a year. Then, a regular client came in with really stubborn puffiness around her jawline that our usual routine wasn't fixing. I decided to try a basic jade gua sha stone on her, following the lymphatic drainage techniques I'd seen. After just that one 15-minute session, the difference was crazy. Her jawline looked more defined and the puffiness was way down. She even texted me two days later saying the effects lasted. It totally changed my mind. Has anyone else had a tool or method they doubted that actually became a solid part of their practice?

So it's not just a fancy ice scraper for your face?

Actually jade is the traditional stone for gua sha tools, but the one Iris mentioned was rose quartz, which is a different material entirely. My wife bought one of those rose quartz ones last year and it's definitely more of a crystal healing thing, not the traditional jade that's been used in Chinese medicine for centuries. She said the rose quartz one felt lighter and didn't hold the cold as well as the jade one her friend has.

That's actually jade gua sha, not quartz. Jade is the traditional stone for it. Quartz is usually for crystal healing stuff.

My friend got super into the crystal healing side of things last year. She ended up with a whole drawer of different stones, including a rose quartz gua sha. Honestly, it just sits there looking pretty now.
