My steamer died mid-shift yesterday and I had to improvise with a hot towel cabinet
Right in the middle of extractions on a Saturday. Client had congested pores and I'm standing there with a lukewarm towel wondering what to do. Had to switch to a double towel method and use my hands more. Took twice as long and my wrists are killing me today. Anyone else had their equipment fail at the worst possible moment and had to think on their feet?

heating up the towels in a microwave for like 30 seconds each worked in a pinch for me once, just gotta test them on your own skin first so you don't burn anyone. also switched to a warm compress with a dry towel on top to hold the heat longer, helped a lot with extractions. your wrists will thank you for taking those small breaks even if it feels slower.

That "dry towel on top" trick is actually genius, I've been doing that for years and it makes a huge difference with keeping the heat where you need it. You're right about the microwave heat dropping off fast though, so I usually do two towels and swap them out while one is still on my face. Small breaks really do save your wrists, I learned that the hard way after a bad cramp during a long session lol.

nah, microwaves are fine but that heat fades TOO fast for a proper steam, nothing beats the real thing for deep pore work.
