Picked professional wax over sugar at a new spa and it went totally sideways
I was trying out this new place in Denver last Tuesday and they asked if I wanted sugar paste or hard wax for a brow cleanup. I said hard wax thinking it would be faster, but the esthetician globbed it on way too thick and it took like 5 minutes to set. When she ripped it off it pulled a chunk of my skin and left a little red mark for 3 days. Has anyone else sworn off a technique after one bad experience?

Yeah hard wax is tricky, I've had that exact thing happen to me before. The trick is the wax needs to be the right consistency before they put it on, not too thick or it'll pull skin. I'd suggest sticking with sugar paste for brows since it's way gentler and doesn't stick to live skin as much. Might be worth giving that place another shot but asking for sugar next time, or just find someone who's really good with hard wax.

Holy crap! That's actually kind of wild you had the exact same thing happen. @casey268 I totally get what you mean about the consistency though. I tried hard wax once at home and it was a total disaster. Like I ripped off actual skin and screamed. Sugar paste sounds way smarter. I honestly didn't even know you could ask for it at a waxing place. Might have to try that next time because hard wax scares me now.

Bet your skin was mad at you for days after that.
