PSA: dropped $400 on a dermaplaning certification and learned nothing my $60 YouTube course didn't already cover
I signed up for a weekend dermaplaning cert in Dallas back in March because I thought the hands-on part would teach me angles and pressure I couldn't get from videos, but we spent 5 hours on a workbook and 40 minutes actually holding a blade. The instructor kept saying to just go light and let the tool do the work, which is literally the same tip from the free video I watched two years ago. Has anyone found a class that's actually worth the money for advanced exfoliation, or should I just save up for one of the bigger conventions instead?
Ugh, I did the same thing in Austin two years ago (except mine was $350 and came with a sad little tote bag). The truth is most of those weekend certs are just paper mills, the real learning happens when you get a cheap practice head and grind through 50 faces, angles and pressure you figure out with your hands not a workbook. Skip the next class and put that money toward a convention where you can actually watch people work up close.
