PSA: The spa in Portland had a genius way to handle maskne
I was at a spa in Portland last month and noticed they had a whole new station just for post-mask skin care. They used a specific calming serum with zinc right after extractions, which I hadn't seen before. Has anyone else added a special step for mask irritation into their facial routine?

Wait, they were doing extractions on people who just took their masks off? That seems like the worst time to poke at your skin, my face is always so angry and puffy right after. I'm shocked a spa would add that step instead of just calming things down first.

But wouldn't that just push bacteria deeper?

Have you considered that maybe the heat and moisture from the mask actually softens everything up? It could be the perfect time to clear out pores that are already open and primed. A good esthetician knows how to work with the skin's condition in that moment. The goal is to get the gunk out before it has a chance to settle back in and cause more issues. Leaving it could just mean more problems next week. Sometimes you have to deal with a little redness now to prevent a bigger breakout later.
