Question about using ice rollers on sensitive skin

I read a study last month that said using ice rollers can actually damage your skin barrier if you do it too often. Found it on a dermatology research site, not just some blog. The article mentioned that more than 3 times a week led to irritation in 60% of test subjects with sensitive skin. I was using mine every morning before work. Has anyone else seen redness or broken capillaries after daily ice rolling?

Wait... your friend at a medspa sees people coming in with broken capillaries from ice rollers? For real? I thought that stuff was supposed to be super gentle and safe. That's honestly kinda terrifying to hear. I've been using mine like crazy too because I thought it was helping with my redness, but now I'm wondering if I'm just making things worse over time. That 60% statistic from the study you mentioned is wild, especially since it's from an actual research site and not just some random skincare blog. Maybe I need to chill out with the ice rolling and give my skin a break too.

That "tiny red dots" thing is exactly what I read about in a skin health newsletter I get. A dermatologist they interviewed said those dots are usually burst capillaries from too much cold shock without letting the skin normalize. Three days a week sounds like a safer max, especially if you already have sensitive skin.

. You know what, that actually explains a lot. I was doing the same thing with an ice roller every morning for like a month and my cheeks started looking like I had some sort of windburn or something. Tiny red dots that wouldnt go away. I thought it was just a bad reaction to my moisturizer but now im wondering if it was the ice roller this whole time. A friend of mine who works at a medspa told me last week that she sees people come in with broken capillaries from overdoing cold therapy all the time. She said the skin needs time to warm up and recover between sessions. Ive switched to only doing it on Sundays now and the redness is almost gone already.
