Serious question about those 'no talking' policies during facials

I overheard a newer esthetician at my last workshop say clients prefer complete silence during extractions. I've been working 8 years in a Miami spa and my regulars always chat through the whole thing. Has anyone else found that quiet makes clients more tense?

Ugh, that's so rough! It's totally valid to feel thrown off when someone suggests something so different from what you've seen work for years.

Your regulars might just be used to chatting because that's how you've always done it. If you actually tried a silent facial with some new clients you'd probably find they relax way more without having to make small talk.
