TIL a 20 minute LED mask session changed my skin way faster than 6 months of fancy serums

I was using this $80 vitamin C serum and a retinol cream for half a year and saw like minor changes. Last month I borrowed my friend's red light therapy mask for a week and after just 3 sessions my fine lines around my eyes looked noticeably softer. Anyone else have a treatment that worked way faster than you expected?

$80 for vitamin C and it did nothing, meanwhile your friend's $300 mask sits there and actually works in a week. I swear the skincare industry is just a game of "how much money can we drain before you figure out the real cheat code." I did the same thing with a cheap blue light pen for acne, three days later my cystic spots were half the size, and I was like cool, so I just wasted two years on benzoyl peroxide for nothing. It almost makes you feel dumb for buying into all those fancy serums when the real magic is plugging something into the wall. But hey, at least the vitamin C bottle looks pretty on my bathroom shelf.

Right so my skin just needs a $400 gadget instead of $80 serums, cool cool cool. But seriously @kai_ramirez38 made a good point about treatments hitting different layers, my derm told me the same thing last year. The red light stuff works on collagen deeper down while vitamin C is more like surface maintenance, so if your lines are structural you'll see faster results from the light. Probably need both in the long run but yeah that instant gratification from the mask is hard to beat.

Oh man, the thing people don't talk about enough is how different treatments hit different skin layers. Serums work on the surface but light therapy goes deeper so it makes sense you'd see results faster if your issues are more structural than topical. Also wonder if your skin just gets used to products after a while and stops responding. Sometimes switching it up wakes things back up.
