TIL how long a chemical peel really takes to finish working

A client came in for a follow up two days after her peel and was bummed her skin wasn't totally clear yet. I had to explain the whole skin renewal cycle can take four to six weeks, so you're really just seeing the start. She thought it was a one and done fix, but it's more about waiting for your skin to do its thing underneath.

Wait, people actually think skin fixes itself overnight? That's like expecting a cake to bake in two minutes.

Come on @ninar68, some serums really do work fast.

But what are they expecting to fix, exactly? I mean if someone picks at a pimple and wants the red mark gone in 8 hours, that's just not how skin works. It's more like trying to grow grass where you just dug a hole. You see it with sunburn too, people get mad when it's still pink two days later. Maybe it's just me but the whole idea shows a weird lack of patience with how bodies actually function.

So what's the rush to fix something that took years to form?
